Explanation
Leaving the Masjid marks a transition from a place of worship back into the world of commerce, work, and family. While we ask for Rehmat (Mercy) upon entering to focus on the soul, we ask for Fazl (Bounty/Favour) when leaving. In Islamic terminology, "Fazl" often refers to lawful provision and worldly success. By reciting this dua, a believer asks Allah to let the spiritual peace gained inside the Masjid reflect in their worldly dealings outside, ensuring that their earnings and actions remain blessed and within the boundaries of Halal.
Is there a Quranic Or Hadith reference?
This dua is recorded in Sahih Muslim (Hadith 713) and Sunan Abi Dawud. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) taught that when leaving the mosque, one should say: "Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik" (O Allah, I ask You of Your favor). This perfectly aligns with the Quranic instruction in Surah Al-Jumu'ah (62:10): "And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty (Fazl) of Allah."
Summary
(English) This dua serves as a bridge between spiritual devotion and worldly responsibilities. By asking for Allah's "Fazl," we seek His guidance and blessing in our daily bread and social interactions. It reminds us that even outside the Masjid, we are dependent on His generosity to keep our worldly pursuits righteous and successful.
(Hinglish) Masjid se nikalte waqt 'Fazl' mangne ka matlab hai ke hum apni rozi-roti aur duniya ke kaamon mein Allah ki barkat talab kar rahe hain. Ye dua hamein sikhati hai ke ibadat ke baad jab hum duniya mein wapas jayein, toh Allah ka sath na choote. Ye hamari mehnat ko ibadat mein badalne ka ek zariya hai.
Kya aapne kabhi gaur kiya hai ke, Islam mein deen aur duniya dono ko sath lekar chalne ki kitni khoobsurat taaleem di gayi hai?
